There’s a castle up in the clouds, held aloft by wizardry and dreams — and once you’ve been, you’ll want to go back.
Jessamine, a small dragon with a heart the size of the castle itself, has spent her days as Wizard Garstang’s apprentice and familiar — half-fairy, half-human, and fiercely fond of the flamboyant, mysterious wizard who calls her “Jess-o-mine.” Between them, they’ve seen every kind of magical mischief this floating court has to offer.
And there’s always more mischief to be had. The sylphs are plotting something in the Potionery again. The spellbooks in the library have opinions of their own. King Griffin tends his roses while Queen Mellany dreams strange gardens into bloom, and somewhere in the kitchens, sugar and magic are turning into something wonderful. Sixteen tales unfold across this curious, wandering castle — of friendship, belonging, and the marvellous mess of trying to fit in when you’re a little bit strange.
Tea’s served at three, and there’s a banquet after. Don’t be late.
From the author of Wyrde and Wayward and Modern Magick: cosy, uplifting stories about an eccentric wizard, an irascible dragon, and the most unlikely of friendships.
