Cold Days at Castle Drax (Paperback)

No one in their right mind wants to live at Castle Drax — ancient, freezing, crumbling into the sea. Fortunately, the Vexx family aren’t in their right mind at all.

Luna Vexx — Lulu, to everyone who loves her — is the family’s resident optimist, the one who insists, against all evidence, that everything will be alright. It’s a useful trait, growing up in a castle with a lugubrious doorbell, a demon or two in the household, and a father who considers the whole place “a fate worse than death.”

Then hard times catch up with the Vexxes for real. Castle Drax has to be sold — there’s simply no way around it — if only they can find a buyer mad enough to take it on. But selling the castle means more than losing a crumbling pile of stone on a cliff. It means finding out whether this odd, infernal, deeply loved household can survive being pulled apart.

Turns out even a family this demonically dysfunctional is worth fighting to keep.

A glittering Decopunk mosaic of sixteen tales — life, love, and curses, laced with Charlotte E. English’s trademark humour and quirky charm.
